1967 Camaro Restoration Project

A never ending process. More small parts refinished and clearcoated.

I'm wanting to get some more foward work done on the project so I went and got the rear unit back now that the backlash has been set up. That was a job I let my machine buddy do because if it is not done correctly, the rear gears will destroy themselves in a very short time. Now to put it back together. First is the backing plates, axles, and wheel cylinders,,,,

,,,then I put on the metal brake lines, shoes and spring hardware. Then I take the shoes and springs back apart and do it again because some dummy forgot to install the emergancy brake cables that need to go on first. Second time was a breeze.

Install the brake drums,, and the rear gear unit is finally off my desk and ready for installation.

Remember what this rear gear looked liked way back on page Two?

Frank came over the other evening, drank a few cold ones with me and blasted the paint on the engine for me. Thanks Frank.

The body is not long from coming back from painter Frank's so it's time to get the front subframe put back together. Up on saw horses and now it's in my way,, so it'll get done real soon.

The upper and lower control arms go on first as well as the steering knuckles. The front springs still need to go in there but I wanted to make sure everything fit correctly before I comperssed the springs prior to installing them.

The steering gear and engine mount brackets are installed and everything looks fine with them.
